Exciting sitar and vocal concert

Raag-Mala Toronto presents a two-part concert with Hidayat Husain Khan (sitar) and Manjusha Patil (vocal) Saturday, May 13th at 7pm at McLeod Auditorium, 1 King's College Circle, Toronto

Hidayat Husain Khan who studied classical Indian music under his father, the legendary maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan, harbours a creative brilliance that effortlessly takes him across many genres of music. He has also collaborated with such artists like Ndugu Chancler, Alicia Keys, Usher, Zakir Hussain, Pete Townshend and Jay Z.

Manjusha Patil is one of the most sought-after vocalists of her generation. Groomed in the Gwalior tradition by senior artists, she has performed at major music festivals in India and overseas.  The suppleness of Patil's tone makes her rendition of khayals mesmerizing, and the abandon with which she sings complex compositions can often take one's breath away.
