Raags of the Gharana Tradition
Literally meaning “family”, a gharana in North Indian classical music refers to a musical style that has developed over a certain period of time in various regional centers. A gharana is identified by the tradition’s approach to various aspects of performance of a raag and taal .
A group of India’s finest musicians representing four different gharanas will perform raags that are special to their traditions.
