Please email raagmalatoronto@gmail.com for details.\n\nRaag-Mala Benefactors & Patrons:If you are unable to attend a concert\, pass your complimentary tickets to a friend!To help us assign seats\, you may be contacted to confirm attendance \n\n\n\n\nWarren Senders\nWarren is an internationally recognized musician and educator with decades of involvement in the artistic and pedagogical traditions of India as well as those of Western\, African and African-American music. He has received numerous fellowships and awards for his mastery of the Hindustani khayal vocal style; his concerts in India\, Europe and North America have been widely acclaimed. \nWarren continues to be in the Music-in-Education faculty at New England Conservatory of Music. His previous lecture/demonstrations for Raag-Mala Toronto\, and at the Aga Khan Museum\, were much-admired for his ability to talk about raag music\, a complex art form\, in simple everyday language free from jargon\, and in an immensely entertaining manner. \nWarren’s vocal recital will be followed by a moderated discussion on the course “Entering the World of Raga”\, including Q&A from the audience. \nHardeep Chana \nBeing immersed and raised in a musical atmosphere\, Hardeep began learning from within his family at first. He sought guidance for accompaniment from Professor Ranjit Singh learning Taus or Mayoori Veena. Today\, Hardeep continues his studies as a Harmonium accompanist under the acclaimed harmonium accompanist Shri Tanmay Deochake of Pune. \nHardeep has had the fortune of accompanying many great artists including Pandit Anindo Chatterjee\, Pandit Yogesh Samsi\, Smt. Kaushiki Chakraborty\, and many more. \nKiran Morarji \nKiran is a distinguished tabla artist of the Punjab gharana\, recognized as one of the most active and sought-after performers. He began his study of tabla at the age of eight and has dedicated his life to the art form ever since. For over two and a half decades\, he has been a disciple of the legendary Maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain\, whose guidance has profoundly shaped his musical voice and artistic philosophy. He continues training with Pandit Yogesh Samsi\, senior disciple of Ustad Allarakha\, further deepening his grounding in the Punjab tradition. \nHe has performed extensively across Canada\, the US\, and around the world\, accompanying some of the world’s most respected instrumentalists\, vocalists\, and Kathak dancers\, including appearances alongside his Gurus.

DESCRIPTION:Raag-Mala Toronto participates in Nuit Blanche at the Aga Khan Museum\nSerenity to Playful in Raga Music\nSaturday October 3rd 2026 at 9pm\nNanji Family Foundation Auditorium\n77 Wynford Drive\n\nIndrani Mukherjee\, is an internationally renowned Hindustani Classical Vocalist\, singing Khayal in Kirana-Rampur style and Thumri in Purab Ang.\n\nShe was a scholar from 1996 at the ITC SRA under the mentorship of Pt Arun Bhaduri\, Late Vidushi Purnima Choudhury\, and Pandit Ramashray Jha\, and under Vidhushi Manju Sundaram from 2012. \nIndrani’s mellifluous and charismatic voice has won over audiences and critics alike. As an empanelled artists under ICCR and as ‘A Grade’ artist on AIR\, she has performed widely across India in festivals such as Kala Sangam” Festival by Sangeet Natak Academy\, Delhi\, Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav in Pune\, at Saptak in Ahmedabad. \nOverseas\, she has performed at festivals\, including Darbar Festival in London\, Learn Quest Music Conference in Boston\, SHADAJ in Boston\, and Sarb Akal Indian Classical Music Festival in Calgary. \nApurba Mukherjee is a disciple of the legendary tabla maestro Pandit Shankar Ghosh\, and has performed widely in India and abroad\, accompanying well known musicians of the country as well as composing and performing experimental music projects with musicians overseas. \nBesides playing important concerts in India\, he has also performed at major festivals and concerts in various countries in USA\, Canada\, Europe\, Jordan\, Syria\, Lebanon and Azerbaijan\, to name some. Apurba has collaborated for the “Benares Project” with the renowned trumpetist\, Erik Truffz and performed at the London Jazz Festival\, Montreal Jazz Festival\, Paris Blue Note Jazz Festival\, Paleo Festival and others. \nApurba teaches in India\, as well as through online lessons and conducts workshops in USA and Europe. \nAnirban Chakrabarty\, who hails from a family of musicians was trained by his father\, Amal Chakrabarty\, and later by Pandit Manas Chakraborty\, the doyen of Kotali Gharana.  Following a post-graduate degree in music (first class) from the Rabindra Bharati University\,  Anirban has been performing across the world. \nHe has accompanied senior musicians including Pt. Manas Chakrabarty\, Pt. Arun Bhaduri\, Pt. Venkatesh Kumar\, Vidushi Ashwini Bhide\, Vidushi Arati Ankalikar\, Jayateerth Mevundi in major festivals like Dover Lane Music Conference in Kolkata\, Hariballabh Music Festival\, Saptak in Ahmedabad\, and in major concerts in USA\, Canada and Europe. \n\n\n\nPlease Note: seats for Raag-Mala Benefactors will be guaranteed until 15 minutes before the concert time\, after which they will be released to the general public. Partho Sarothy \nPartho Sarothy\, a maestro of the sarod\, carries forward the rich legacy of Hindustani classical music. Trained under the tutelage of his father\, Ustad Dhyanesh Khan\, and the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar\, Partho’s music is a sublime fusion of serenity and fulfillment. With his mesmerizing performances\, he has captivated audiences worldwide\, establishing himself as one of the most accomplished musicians from India. \nPerforming live worldwide for over 50 years\, Partho’s performances have carried the power of unfiltered Indian classical music. Each note played on his Sarod aims to touch souls\, stir emotions\, and inspire self-exploration. Partho’s mission is to perform and ensure this powerful music continues to resonate through generations\, creating an everlasting symphony \nVidushi Mita Nag \nVidushi Mita Nag is the daughter and disciple of sitar maestro Padma Shree Pandit Manilal Nag of Kolkata and the grand daughter of Sangeetacharya Gokul Nag of the Vishnupur gharana. The Nag family of sitarists have six generations of lineage rooted in the town of Bankura in West Bengal since the days of Ramshankar Bhattacharya\, one of the earliest musicians of this gharana. \nMita’s initiation into sitar playing under her mother at the age of four years was encouraged by her illustrious grandfather\, and the seeds of the early years matured under her Guru and father. She made her debut performance at the age of 10. She has since performed both solo performances and duets with her father\, all over the world. \nPandit Subhen Chatterjee  \nPandit Subhen Chatterjee belongs to the Lucknow gharana and has studied under the tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chowdhury. He has also learnt from masters from other gharanas\, and incorporated the intricacies and beauty of these gharanas into his playing\, making for a delightful listening experience. \nApart from being an excellent soloist\, Subhen ji is a much sought-after accompanist\, having played with the who’s-who of raag sangeet (Indian classical music). He has accompanied artists like as Pandit Bhimsen Joshi\, Vidushi Girija Devi\, Ustad Rashid Khan\, Ustad Shahid Parvez\, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar\, to name a few. His performances have well received in the press and made him an audience favourite.
