Please email raagmalatoronto@gmail.com for details.\n\nRaag-Mala Benefactors & Patrons:If you are unable to attend a concert\, pass your complimentary tickets to a friend!To help us assign seats\, you may be contacted to confirm attendance \n\n\n\n\nWarren Senders\nWarren is an internationally recognized musician and educator with decades of involvement in the artistic and pedagogical traditions of India as well as those of Western\, African and African-American music. He has received numerous fellowships and awards for his mastery of the Hindustani khayal vocal style; his concerts in India\, Europe and North America have been widely acclaimed. \nWarren continues to be in the Music-in-Education faculty at New England Conservatory of Music. His previous lecture/demonstrations for Raag-Mala Toronto\, and at the Aga Khan Museum\, were much-admired for his ability to talk about raag music\, a complex art form\, in simple everyday language free from jargon\, and in an immensely entertaining manner. \nWarren’s vocal recital will be followed by a moderated discussion on the course “Entering the World of Raga”\, including Q&A from the audience. \nHardeep Chana \nBeing immersed and raised in a musical atmosphere\, Hardeep began learning from within his family at first. He sought guidance for accompaniment from Professor Ranjit Singh learning Taus or Mayoori Veena. Today\, Hardeep continues his studies as a Harmonium accompanist under the acclaimed harmonium accompanist Shri Tanmay Deochake of Pune. \nHardeep has had the fortune of accompanying many great artists including Pandit Anindo Chatterjee\, Pandit Yogesh Samsi\, Smt. Kaushiki Chakraborty\, and many more. \nKiran Morarji \nKiran is a distinguished tabla artist of the Punjab gharana\, recognized as one of the most active and sought-after performers. He began his study of tabla at the age of eight and has dedicated his life to the art form ever since. For over two and a half decades\, he has been a disciple of the legendary Maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain\, whose guidance has profoundly shaped his musical voice and artistic philosophy. He continues training with Pandit Yogesh Samsi\, senior disciple of Ustad Allarakha\, further deepening his grounding in the Punjab tradition. \nHe has performed extensively across Canada\, the US\, and around the world\, accompanying some of the world’s most respected instrumentalists\, vocalists\, and Kathak dancers\, including appearances alongside his Gurus.
