Raag-Mala Toronto, in partnership with the Aga Khan Museum, is proud to present a vocal recital by Kaushiki Chakraborty on Friday, April 28th at 8pm.
Endowed with a thrilling and mellifluous voice, Kaushiki Chakraborty’s talent and charming stage presence have made her one of the brightest stars in the galaxy of young vocalists.
Kaushiki Chakraborty started her training under her mother Smt. Chandana Chakrabarty, and studied later under her father the renowned singer Padma Shree Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty. She was also accepted as a “ganda bandh shagird” (formal disciple) of the legendary musician the late Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh.
Highly adept at all styles of singing, Kaushiki will present a program of khayal, thumri and other lighter genres. She will be accompanied by Sri Tanmay Deochake on Harmonium, Sri Nitin Mitta on Tabla and Sri Rattan Bhamrah on Esraj.
